Wilton Armetale was founded in 1892 in Lancaster County, Pennsylvania. The company developed a unique aluminum-based alloy known as 'Armetale' which mimics the look of pewter but is food-safe and retains heat or cold exceptionally well. The William and Mary pattern is one of their most celebrated traditional designs, reflecting the ornate Baroque aesthetic popular during the late 17th-century English reign of the monarchs for whom it is named.
